The mission of the Butler County Department of Court Services, Pre-Trial Services Division is to develop and provide services that support informed, accountable pre-trial release and detention decisions that neither unduly restrict a defendant’s liberty nor compromise the community’s safety; and to engender an awareness that the purpose of bail is to ensure the defendant will appear at all stages of the criminal proceedings.

The Pre-Trial Services Division screens defendants and provides the Court with a Pre-Trial Investigation report in order to assist the Court in determining risk and to make recommendations concerning conditions of release.

The Pre-Trial Services Division also supervises defendants released from custody in order to monitor compliance with the conditions of release.
